| Late Night

"The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep." -Robert Frost

| Taking time to breath It had been far too long since I had taken the time to simply enjoy the beauty of a starlit sky. I saw two shooting stars tonight, but more than that, I was awestruck by the glory of my God manifested in His creation.
". . .The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork."
-Psalm 19:1, NKJV

| "The issue was not really television technology, but the producers of harmful programs, sexually explicit scenes, violence, anti-godly heroes, cursing, etc. So, let's not just curse the darkness, but light a candle; let's use technology for the glory of God."
Jerry Falwell, Building Dynamic Faith, 97
One of the best statements on this issue that I've read. If only all pastors could agree on this point...
Tell 'em Jerry!

| The world is too much with us
The world is too much with us; late and soon, Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers: Little we see in nature that is ours; We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon! This sea that bares her bosom to the moon, The winds that will be howling at all hours, And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers, For this, for everything, we are out of tune; It moves us not. -Great God! I'd rather be A pagan suckled in a creed outworn; So might I, standing on this pleasant lea, Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn; Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea; Or hear old Triton blow his wreathed horn.
By William Wordsworth (1770-1850)
Apart from being one of my favorite poems, the above is also the subject matter for my poetry analysis paper...I'm genuinely excited.

| An excerpt from my autobiography:
-------------------------------------
It’s half past 3:00 am, and the silence of my dorm room is broken only by the click of a Starbucks double shot espresso can opening. Only a few more verbs to master, but I won't be getting any sleep tonight. There is too much to be done, too much to cover, too much to know. I place pen to paper and methodically begin copying the Attic Greek deponent verbs of the Present Middle/Passive Indicative Construction. Despite the ruckus over “modern” memory techniques, I am a man who still believes in the power of rote memorization. As I take one more glance at the clock, I subconsciously note that the sun is up in China.
The minutes gently slip away, and the sun nears the horizon. For the time, I’ve finished my studies in Greek, and am presently immersed in the slight intricacies of Systematic Theology. As I cover page after page, looking for both reason and inconsistency, I ponder the advantages of the Cosmological Argument and the Teleological Argument when contrasted against the apparent shortcomings of the Ontological Argument. I wonder, how would Augustine have replied to my objection that the Ontological Argument seems to be begging the question? What would Aristotle think of the Teleological Argument, and how would it have affected his staunch materialism? I close my notebook and quietly determine that these are musings for another day. I look out my window, and as the sun’s first rays begin to dance across the sky, I can almost hear the apostle Paul’s admonition: “Study to shew thyself approved young one.” Yes, study. Study.

While I jest of the autobiography, the above really is a small excerpt from what may one day be a much larger paper. Any constructive thoughts/comments/suggestions would be appreciated.
